Gary’s Take: While I enjoyed the local CX Day event in the Boston area tremendously, I was a little dismayed by the hyper-focus on AI and how it dominated the conversation. Look, I get it, but I have a more realistic viewpoint on it…it’s not all that…YET. Right now, it can’t even tell you how many PGA Tour wins Tiger Woods has…82, easy, I know that off the top of my head! If AI can get that wrong, what else can it get wrong? And more importantly, how much is it going to cost you to make sure it’s getting it right?

Gary’s Take: While this is a quick and simple article, it highlights a growing problem. Some of the world’s best and most experienced talent is feeling left out or abandoned from the workforce. In my highly biased opinion, workers in their 50s are the “best of both worlds:” experienced, adaptable, and with plenty of road left ahead of them. So why aren’t you hiring them?
Only Half of Americans Know How to Save for Retirement
(Forrester, Vijay Raghayan) Preparation for retirement is also greatly lacking. Many Americans don’t own retirement accounts and aren’t seeking retirement planning advice. Instead, they focus on more immediate financial concerns, impacting their ability to save and prepare for life after working.
Gary’s Take: Another area of great interest for me is the connection between CX and Financial Planning, where I see a huge opportunity. This article highlights why…many people are not prepared for retirement, nor are they seeking retirement advice. The fact that many do not have a retirement account is down right scary. Unfortunately, financial planning has historically been viewed as something for “High Net Worth” individuals, not the hard working people who actually need it.
